ATFV

Alternatives To Family Violence (ATFV) is a Colorado non-profit organization founded in 1978 to eliminate domestic violence by providing safety and empowerment to those affected.

Mission

The mission of Alternatives To Family Violence is to provide HOPE—Help, Options, Protection, & Empowerment—to those subjected to domestic violence while promoting nonviolence as a social value.

Philosophy

We work to create an environment that is empowering for clients as well as staff. Empowerment is not about rescuing or telling; it is about creating a space for a person’s talents and ideas to flourish so that she can gain strength and wisdom.

Safehouse

Alternatives’ Safehouse provides emergency shelter in a confidential location for women and children who are attempting to leave an abusive living situation and would otherwise be left homeless.

In addition to Safehouse services, advocates staff the only two 24 -hour crisis lines in Adams County.

2010 Crisis Line Statistics
• Advocates answered 27,943 calls on our crisis line. We provided 184 women and 160 children 5,831 nights of safe shelter. Staff assisted 1,377 families in finding other safe shelter.
