Co Madres—Mothers Supporting Mothers
This past summer, Alternatives To Family Violence launched an innovative new program, Co-Madres.

The Co-Madres Group, facilitated by our Bilingual Community Outreach Coordinator Virginia, is based on the cultural concept that every mother needs emotional, social and familial support in creating a safe and stable environment for her children and families.

This new program has been developed to provide women resources and information to support them in becoming self-sufficient, as well as helping them build a support system with other mothers within the community. Weekly topics vary and include Healthy Relationships with their husband and kids, how they can realize their dream of starting their own business and how to obtain a GED. Utilizing community partnerships, speakers from Goodwill Industries and Yesenias Beauty Salon have provided special presentations.

The Co-Madres program was designed utilizing feedback from many of our monolingual Spanish-speaking clients and is meeting the real needs of these women in our community.
