Full Time Positions:

Part-Time:
The Safehouse is always looking for new part time Women’s Advocates. We are especially interested in part time advocates who are bi-lingual in Spanish and other languages. The Relief Advocate position is a part-time position designed to assist when full-time shelter staff cannot be present and/or fill in the gaps in scheduling. Relief Advocates are called for shifts, as coverage is needed but maintain the flexibility of accepting or denying each shift they are asked to cover. Relief coverage may be needed for morning, swing and/or overnight shifts. The position requires counseling and crisis intervention skills. Advocates should be familiar with domestic violence issues and working with survivors of trauma. Advocate will be working primarily with adult women, but should also possess both the skill and interest in working with children and families as a whole. Compensation is hourly, $9/Hr ($10/hr bilingual rate) time and a half compensation for holiday shifts.

Duties and Responsibilities include:
1. Provide counseling, crisis intervention and advocacy for clients as needed.
2. Provide supervision of shelter residents and enforce rules that pertain to safety and communal living environment.
3. Assist callers on a 24hr crisis line
4. Acquire knowledge of community resources and utilize them as needed for client case management and referrals.
5. Conduct client intakes
6. Complete daily log notes and other necessary paperwork and documentation.
7. Attend monthly Relief Staff meetings
8. Work with all shelter staff as a team
