IMPACT OF YOUR CONTRIBUTION
In 2006, Alternatives Safehouse provided 327 women and 123 children with 4,618 nights of shelter.
97% of these households had no income.
Alternatives Safehouse has 21 beds and 3 cribs. The house was built in 1950s as a 4plex and is about 2000 square feet, the size of a regular family home.
Imagine 450 guests in your home throughout the year.
Each week we:
- Spend $200 on bus tokens
- Use 10-12 gallons of milk
- Use 8-10 dozen eggs
- Use 7 gallons of laundry detergent
Every month:
We use 80,000 gallons of water for showers, laundry, dishes, bathroom usage, and cleaning for 21 women and several children.
In 2006, the cost of a night of shelter was $l00.63 per night.
Group Counseling sessions are $70.00 per session.
Our Individual Counseling Sessions are 430.00 per session.
All Safehouse residents, including children, receive both group and individual counseling.
Alternatives Community Outreach and Support, (COSS), provides community education presentations, technical assistance to schools, social service agencies, hospitals and churches.
In 2006, 2,387 community members attended 57 community presentations. Each presentation is free to the community. Alternatives cost is $172.50 per presentation.
