Alternatives To Family Violence (ATFV) is a Colorado non-profit organization founded in 1978 to eliminate domestic violence by providing safety and empowerment to those affected.

Mission

The mission of Alternatives To Family Violence is to provide HOPE—Help, Options, Protection, & Empowerment—to those subjected to domestic violence while promoting nonviolence as a social value.

Philosophy

We work to create an environment that is empowering for clients as well as staff. Empowerment is not about rescuing or telling; it is about creating a space for a person’s talents and ideas to flourish so that she can gain strength and wisdom.

Safehouse

Alternatives’ Safehouse provides emergency shelter in a confidential location for women and children who are attempting to leave an abusive living situation and would otherwise be left homeless.

Contribute Items

While general operating budget monies are most needed, Alternatives is always in need of new and slightly used items for our women and children. Alternatives provides food, clothing, and other essentials to women and children in our safehouse. Donations of personal and facility supporting items are always needed.
